I was selected as the winner of a live brief set by Johnson Tiles, in which we presented and pitched our collections to the Johnson Tiles designers. I was highly praised upon my professional execution and presentation, amongst an impressive trend prediction and identification. My collection is based on an upcoming trend of the time: terrazzo. I take pride in this collection of designs as it shows my flexibility to successfully work in different styles and for different surfaces and products, showing a more abstract approach, in contrast to my usual illustrative style.
This project heavily relied on my excellent Adobe Creative Suite skillset. I take pride in my ability to confidently fuse together my skills in hand drawing and CAD, which I believe is an extremely important skill as a modern designer in industry.
As a result of winning the live brief, I was invited to undertake a work placement with the Johnson Tiles team at their design office. During this time I was able to assist in the creation of their collections, in addition to gaining an understanding of the design and manufacturing process. I was also given the opportunity to print my own tile collections, using different effects, in the factory.
